What does the word family mean to you? What do you feel when you hear the word? or when you are aware of its true meaning? What do you sense to know that you are a part of a unique family?

Family means being one; being united. Of course you may have a house and all its comfort and luxury but it doesn’t come close to the comforts of what a family offers you.

Your family is the first and only place you are welcomed into, no matter how rough situations would be, even if you left your family to go off somewhere far away, your family ids the only place that welcomes you back with open arms.

Do you know the story of the “Prodigal Son”?

There was a father, who worked on a farm, with his two sons. The eldest son was lazy and did not work as much in the field to help his father; the youngest son on the other hand was quite the opposite, he would labor himself with twice the load of his father while working the farm.

One day the eldest son, made a declaration that he would set out into town and find himself labor; upon such a declaration which took his father by shock, the son also demanded his share of the land from his father for his journey to town. His father didn’t hesitate to allow his eldest son to take his share, after all all a parent wants is the best for their children.

The next day, the son left to the town and felt quite relieved to be out of the farm. Having had his fair share of living in the town for a few days, he began to loose interest in finding employment of any sort, so he resorted to late night drinking and women. He spent all his share on being filled with wine and entertainment from women.

He continued to live in this manner for a good two years, until one night he realized that he was up to his last penny. Seeing how the once rich and lively son had his fill of enjoyment, he became the poorest of them all. He ended up being evicted from his small cabin and spent the rest of his days and nights in a pig farm.

Understanding how selfish he has been with his decisions and his fortune, he started to remember his father and brother; he felt ashamed and unworthy to face them both, and he was hesitant to go back home to them, to the family he belonged to.

For 3 months he grew weary of being abandoned and ridiculed that he decided to go back to his home, to his father. He made the long journey back; upon arriving home from a distance, he could see his father and brother in the farm, which was bountiful in produce and was expanded throughout the field. His eyes were filled with tears seeing how satisfied their lives were without him, his heart filled with the utmost joy for them thus grew into a will of not wanting to be a burden to them, which made him want to turn and walk away.

However just as the eldest son turned his back, his father caught a glimpse of him from where he stood, and cried out his name and ran towards him. The eldest son turned around upon hearing his name be called out and saw his father run towards him with open arms.

They embraced each other so heartily and fell to the ground with never ending tears the father and his eldest son held each other’s embrace; followed by the young brother.

The eldest son was welcomed home and was given a king’s meal, while his father kept rejoicing to have his son home…….

So as you can see, family is everything, its the first thing you are born into and the last thing you are left to return to.

Family is the haven that everyone possesses, but at the same time show very little value… After all we don’t know what we have until it’s gone…Time wasted can’t be bought and that is a fact, but family over powers every fact;even if you move away from family, at the end you always have a haven to go back to… Value family after all, in my perspective family, is the rarest diamond in the rough….
